“Exhilarating… a fascinating exploration by a brilliant ensemble”
– John von Rhein, Chicago Classical Review
A troupe of 13 international artists sets out on a vibrant musical journey from 16th-century Spain to baroque Latin America. In this colorful program led by Jeannette Sorrell, the music of Spanish composers Diego Ortiz, Gaspar Sanz, and Santiago de Murcia blends with Mexican and Peruvian traditions. Sephardic ballads from the Jewish communities of Spain and Argentina ring with love and despair. Through the words of the great Latin American poets Pablo Neruda and Julia de Burgos, native voices ring with LOVE and RESILIENCE.
