Kevin began at Apollo’s Fire in 2016 after serving as Music Department Coordinator at Solon Center for the Arts and manager of the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra. As a percussionist, he has performed throughout Europe and North America and is active in the region as a section percussionist of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, a founding member of the progressive Akros Percussion Collective, and as a freelance timpanist and percussionist with numerous other organizations. Kevin is also a leading musicologist in the field of percussion music and is co-editor of the book, The Modern Percussion Revolution: Journeys of the Progressive Artist, and Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal, Percussive Notes Online Research Edition. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in percussion from Millikin University, Master’s degrees in percussion and music history from the University of Akron, and a doctorate in percussion from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
