About Apollo’s Fire

Apollo’s Fire is a GRAMMY® Award–winning baroque orchestra internationally recognized for vibrant, historically informed performances and imaginative programming. Founded in 1992 by harpsichordist and conductor Jeannette Sorrell, the ensemble brings Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music to life with expressive artistry and dramatic flair, performing on period instruments with a sound that is daring, passionate, and deeply human. Based in Cleveland and performing on major stages across the country, Apollo’s Fire has earned global acclaim through acclaimed recordings, international tours, and collaborations with leading soloists.

Having now been part of Chicago’s cultural life for five seasons, Apollo’s Fire has built lasting relationships across the city, making it a true second home. What began as guest appearances has grown into an ongoing presence marked by sold-out concerts, creative residencies, and dynamic partnerships with local schools and arts organizations. The ensemble’s expanding commitment to education and community engagement reaches young musicians, families, and new audiences across the city—inviting Chicagoans to experience early music in fresh, welcoming, and unexpected ways. Recently named among the Chicago Classical Review’s “Top 10 Performances of the Year” for its riveting interpretation of Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Apollo’s Fire continues to energize Chicago’s cultural landscape with performances that feel immediate, relevant, and alive, offering a new generation of listeners and professionals not just concerts, but a vibrant and inspiring community.
