GRAMMY®-winners Apollo’s Fire and Jeannette Sorrell make their Old Town School debut! This ensemble has performed at Carnegie Hall and around the world, bringing music of the past to life on historic instruments. In this program, they take you centuries back to a time when the different peoples of Jerusalem lived together in relative peace. Following the ancient tradition of Hakawati (Middle Eastern storytelling), oud master Ronnie Malley weaves tales of his Palestinian ancestors, while Apollo’s Fire musicians evoke the Middle Eastern landscape with festive tunes and haunting ancient instruments. Also featuring Daphna Mor on the Middle Eastern ney flute, Emi Tanabe on violin/fiddle, and Tina Bergmann on hammered dulcimer. An uplifting musical prayer for peace in our time.
“An ensemble at the height of their powers, making vital statements about the world…”
