Lift Every Voice
A Celebration of Brotherhood & Sisterhood
An outdoor concert featuring members of AF’s MOSAIC Project
May 30May 31, 2021
The fascinating 18th-century French-African composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. Georges, was known as “the Black Mozart.” In this new program from Jeannette Sorrell, Bologne’s music and his story unfold. Monteverdi’s beautiful Nigra Sum (I am Black & Beautiful) from the Vespers of 1610 meets African-American composer Jonathan Woody’s 2019 composition of the same title. Renowned countertenor Reggie Mobley shares tales of his childhood growing up Black (and beautiful) in the Deep South. The young voices of Apollo’s Musettes (youth choir) join AF musicians and 5 soloists in this celebration of our shared humanity.

70-minute concerts. Seating capacity is limited and Ohio COVID safety protocols will be observed.
